What are the 10 most livable small towns?
Do you want to make the move to a smaller town, but don’t want to give up city comforts? The team at Realtor.com has put together a list of the top 10 most livable small towns for 2023.
Topping the list? Cortland, NY is listed as the most livable small town in the U.S. The median home price is only $159,250, and the town features a lot of city-like amenites. The town boasts a lively downtown with plenty of restaurant, bars, and shops, several festivals per year, and skiing and snowboarding is within driving distance.
Kearney, NE and Branson, MO rounded out the top three cities on the list.
What does a tiny home village look like?
For roughly $700 per month, the town of Spur, TX is one of the first tiny house-friendly areas in the country. The community allows people to own an affordable home in West Texas. So far, 70 lots have been purchased, and the only rules are the homes must feature wood or metal framing, have flush toilets connected to city utilities, and that the electrical work is properly done.
Current residents have formed a tight-knit community. It’s possible to rent homes before buying, but several new residents are owners.
If Spur, TX can prove successful, this could be a way for small towns that are near big cities to attract residents.
